SANTA CLARITA VALLEY BLUES SOCIETY CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISER

Presenting performances by the recent Winners of our 2008 International Blues Challenge Regional Competitions:
Cody LePow, our 2008 IBC Regional Solo Artist Winner, has a rich heritage of Blues and American music which began in his early childhood and has been an enduring passion. Cody’s soulful, sometimes introspective stories are artfully woven, as pieces of his life are shared, reminding the listener of a certain tradition that he tastefully carries on - a troubadour strumming his guitar and telling his story. LePow has shared the stage with great artists like Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Robben Ford, Coco Montoya, Kid Ramos, Finis Tasby, Mannish Boys and others. His love of the vintage American musical tradition plus his own twist have given him the grist for his musical wheel.
The Laurie Morvan Band, our 2008 IBC Regional Band Winner, also won our Best Self Produced CD Competition for her new CD "Cures What Ails Ya", which has moved into the Blues Foundation's Top 10 Semi Finalists in Memphis. Songs from the CD are receiving airplay on the House of Blues Hour and are doing very well in the Roots & Blues Charts. In addition to playing at clubs and festivals up and down the Coast, The Laurie Morvan Band has performed with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Eric Sardinas, Corey Stevens, Walter Trout, Debbie Davies and Coco Montoya. Most recently, Laurie performed with Tommy Castro and Ronnie Baker Brooks at the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Review.
The Fundraiser will end with an All Star Pro Blues Jam co-hosted by Michael John of the award winning band "Michael John & The Bottom Line", who placed 4th in the World's Top 10 Bands at the 2006 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Michael recently won the 2007 All Access Music Award for "Best Male Vocalist". Also Co-hosting will be SCV Blues Society's President, John Parker, Singer and Lead Guitarists of the popular band "John Parker & Forced Call" who recently won the 2007 Rock City Music Awards for "Outstanding Blues Band of the Year". We'll also have some very special Guest Artists joining us for the Jam.
